47th Tactical Fighter Squadron

Lineage

Redesignated 47 Tactical Fighter Squadron on 17 Apr 1962. Organized on 1 Jul 1962. Inactivated on 1 Jul 1971. 

Assignments

15 Tactical Fighter Wing, 1 Jul 1962 (attached to 2 Air Division, 25 Jul-22 Nov 1965); 

Stations

MacDill AFB, FL, 1 Jul 1962-1 Jul 1971 (deployed at Ubon RTAFB, Thailand, 25 Jul-22 Nov 1965). 

Note:  The following is not found in the official history.

The 47th transferred to Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam in November of 1965 and stayed until relieved by the 12th Tactical Fighter Wing on Dec 3, 1965.  Only 100 enlisted men were part of this transfer.  The highest ranking being a TSgt.  The officers left from Ubon and went directly to the states thus not participating in the move to Cam Rahn Bay.  

Submitted by one of the 100 enlisted men that went to CRB.
